KPC Director, Debs Kingsley is thrilled to be featured in July’s edition of Berkshire Life Magazine on behalf of Smart Works, the charity KPC is delighted to support.
Smart Works has recently opened new offices in Reading, supporting unemployed women on low incomes to get a job and become financially independent. Smart Works, originally conceived in the USA and now with offices throughout the UK, works to provide smart interview clothing and offer interview training to help vulnerable women get back into work.
Success in the Reading branch so far has been extraordinary with a 64% success rate. Since opening in 2015, Reading Smart Works has dressed and helped over 176 women, resulting in 1 in 2 of our interview clients successfully getting the job.
Debs volunteers one day per month along with 32 other volunteers, offering interview skills and support.
"I find that really my job is simply to equip these amazing and resilient ladies with confidence to go out and get the job. They often have the skills and aptitude, they just need some encouragement to see it in themselves."
The Berkshire Life article is a great piece of local media which will help promote the services and great work Smart Works does to a broader range of ladies.
