Who you are

You are an experience and confident sales person, with a natural flair for establishing and building relationships. Perhaps from an agency background, or with direct experience from your own business, you’ll know the steps to take to seek out the next opportunities for KPC and take pride in nurturing them to fruition.

You’ll have a natural ability to understand clients’ needs, ask the right questions, decipher the insights, and read between the lines to deliver the target clients KPC is looking for. You’ll have a good knowledge of marketing and corporate comms to ensure you don’t just land the lead, but also take confidence and enthusiasm in matching KPC’s abilities with client needs.

You are at a stage in your career where you are ready to work with a smaller business that has potential. You are comfortably balanced with work and home life so that you can put time and enthusiasm into nurturing both.

You may also have corporate experience of SME clients and enjoy being part of a team that encourages brilliant ideas and expertise to stretch the minds of both client and KPC.

What you’ll be doing

You’ll be at the heart of a small, growing marketing and corporate communications agency looking to build a portfolio of clients. Focusing on internal and corporate communications, which often lead into strategic marketing projects as internal and external communications collide, you’ll be seeking out clients who could benefit from KPC’s experience and approach.

KPC clients are usually B2B, with a turnover of >£10m and staff of >100. We work best when we work with a responsive and hands-on CEO/MD and/or as an extension to the existing team. We like to build long-term relationships with our clients so you’ll be looking for clients who have a vision and a strategy rather than one-off requirements for tools.

You’ll be setting up KPC’s sales approach, establishing the processes and creating the tools you need to succeed. Landing the lead is the first step;calling on KPC members to help you as necessary. You’ll also be involved in pitching and winning the client if necessary so you are not just running names and numbers, but actively involved in the potential of the client.

Where you will be

We are based in Farnham, Surrey. A small, town-centre, serviced office in a thriving market town with plenty of potential both here and the surrounding towns and cities. We currently have clients all over the country.

The Role

  • Establishing the Sales Function in KPC
    This is a new role. Previously business has grown via word of mouth recommendations. There is a small database of clients and a (free) CRM system but establishing the tools you need will be the first step.
  • Driving the Sales Function in KPC
    You’ll be working along-side a dedicated KPC marketer so you can draw on the resources of social media support, copywriting and design. However you will need to set the agenda and manage the internal resources to ensure you have the tools you need as well as the follow-up resources to meet speaking commitments, client meetings etc.

    You’ll be working with a degree of autonomy although regular feedback to Deborah Kingsley will be essential. KPC has a monthly deep-dive client meeting, looking at the next steps to bring value to existing clients. Attending and contributing to this meeting will ensure you are up to date with our current skills and capabilities and have a regular knowledge of the work we are doing and can offer to new potential clients.

    We have an in-house copywriter, although you will be responsible for ensure we are supporting your work with the right promotion in the right places, eg awards, advertising etc.
  • Proposal Writing
    All proposals are currently written by Deborah Kingsley, drawing from an established library of costs and propositions (although this needs streamlining). You will be supporting Deborah with the initial, outline development of the proposal, having a clear understanding of the customers’ budget, KPCs costs and margin.
